  37. <p>This the third beta of the new major release 1.7 .</p>
  38. <p> Ant 1.7 introduces a resource framework. Some of the core ant
  39. tasks such as &lt;copy/&gt; are now able to process not only file
  40. system resources but also zip entries, tar entries, paths, ...
  41. Resource collections group resources, and can be further
  42. combined with operators such as union and intersection. This
  43. can be extended by custom resources and custom tasks using resources.</p>

  45. Ant 1.7 starts outsourcing of optional tasks to Antlibs.
  46. The .NET antlib in preparation will replace the .NET optional tasks which ship in Ant.
  47. Support for the version control system Subversion will be only provided as an antlib to
  48. be released shortly.

  50. <p>Ant 1.7 fixes also a large number of bugs.</p>

  92. <h3>April 4th, 2005 - The Apache Ant Project Retires Antidote, the
  93. Ant GUI</h3>
  94. <p>The Antidote subproject was once started to provide a GUI for
  95. Ant at a time where IDE support for Ant was far from usable.
  96. Unfortunately it never attracted a developer community of its
  97. own.</p>
  98. <p>At the same time IDE support for Ant has become ubiquitous by
  99. now and there is little reason to have a GUI just for Ant. This
  100. makes it even less likely that volunteers will start to spend time
  101. working on it.</p>
  102. <p>Antidote's development has been stalled for years now, despite
  103. some efforts to rejuvenate it by single developers. Therefore the
  104. Ant developers have chosen to retire Antidote.</p>
  105. <p>Antidote will no longer be developed by the Ant project; its
  106. CVS module will be shut down.</p>

  119. <p>Ant 1.6.2 fixes a large number of bugs and adds a number of
