19.
Javah Task

20.

21.

22.
Javah

23.
Description

24.
Generates JNI headers from a Java class.

25.
When this task executes, it will generate the C header and source files that
26. are needed to implement native methods. JNI operates differently depending on
27. whether JDK1.2
28. (or later) or pre-JDK1.2
29. systems are used.

30.
It is possible to use different compilers. This can be selected
31. with the
implementation
attribute or a nested element. <a
32. name="implementationvalues">Here are the choices of the attribute:

33.

34.
default - the default compiler (kaffeh or sun) for the platform.

35.
sun (the standard compiler of the JDK)

36.
kaffeh (the native standard compiler of Kaffe)

37.
gcjh (the native standard compiler
38. of <a href="http://gcc.gnu.org/java/"
39. target="_top">gcj and gij) since Apache Ant 1.8.2

40.

41.
Note: if you are using this task to work on multiple files
42. the command line may become too long on some operating systems.
43. Unfortunately the javah command doesn't support command argument
44. files the way javac (for example) does, so all that can be done is
45. breaking the amount of classes to compile into smaller chunks.

165. classpath to use when loading the compiler implementation if a
166. custom class has been specified. Doesn't have any effect when
167. using one of the built-in compilers.

168.
Any nested element of a type that implements JavahAdapter
169. since Ant 1.8.0

170.
If a defined type implements the
JavahAdapter

171. interface a nested element of that type can be used as an
172. alternative to the
implementation
attribute.

173.
Examples

174.
<javah destdir="c" class="org.foo.bar.Wibble"/>

175.
makes a JNI header of the named class, using the JDK1.2 JNI model. Assuming
176. the directory 'c' already exists, the file org_foo_bar_Wibble.h
177. is created there. If this file already exists, it is left unchanged.

178.
<javah outputFile="wibble.h">
179. <class name="org.foo.bar.Wibble,org.foo.bar.Bobble"/>
180. </javah>

181.
is similar to the previous example, except the output is written to a file
182. called wibble.h
183. in the current directory.

184.
<javah destdir="c" force="yes">
185. <class name="org.foo.bar.Wibble"/>
186. <class name="org.foo.bar.Bobble"/>
187. <class name="org.foo.bar.Tribble"/>
188. </javah>

189.
writes three header files, one for each of the classes named. Because the
190. force option is set, these header files are always written when the Javah task
191. is invoked, even if they already exist.

192.
<javah destdir="c" verbose="yes" old="yes" force="yes">
193. <class name="org.foo.bar.Wibble"/>
194. <class name="org.foo.bar.Bobble"/>
195. <class name="org.foo.bar.Tribble"/>
196. </javah>
197. <javah destdir="c" verbose="yes" stubs="yes" old="yes" force="yes">
198. <class name="org.foo.bar.Wibble"/>
199. <class name="org.foo.bar.Bobble"/>
200. <class name="org.foo.bar.Tribble"/>
201. </javah>

202.
writes the headers for the three classes using the 'old' JNI format, then
203. writes the corresponding .c stubs. The verbose option will cause Javah to
204. describe its progress.

205.
If you want to use a custom
206. JavahAdapter
org.example.MyAdapter
you can either
207. use the implementation attribute:

208.

209. <javah destdir="c" class="org.foo.bar.Wibble"
210. implementation="org.example.MyAdapter"/>
211.

212.
or a define a type and nest this into the task like in:

213.

214. <componentdef classname="org.example.MyAdapter"
215. name="myadapter"/>
216. <javah destdir="c" class="org.foo.bar.Wibble">
217. <myadapter/>
218. </javah>
219.

220.
in which case your javah adapter can support attributes and
221. nested elements of its own.

222.

223.
